Side Shell Plates Hull Cleaning

Side shell plates were found to be heavily fouled with thick slime and hair like algae, followed by barnacles of 30mm towards the stern of the vessel. Such marine fouling will increase drag and weight of the vessel resulting in using more fuel to reach the same destination. We utilized our hull care series cleaning brushes to effectively remove these marine fouling without damaging the paintwork. Only a proper hull cleaning will ultimately solve the problem and achieve maximum cost efficiency.

Propeller Cleaning & Polishing

The vessel has a 5-bladed fixed pitch propeller. Hard shell barnacles, tubeworms and algae were found growing on the propeller and it was fully oxidized. These are very common conditions that the propeller will face after a period of time which leads to a loss of speed. Hard marine fouling were first removed before polishing the propeller to a premium grade shine and smoothness.

Removal of Fishing Net Entanglement

Fishing net or ropes entangled into propeller tail shaft are very common for ocean going vessels which will lead to a loss of speed. Entanglement should be removed as soon as detected to prevent melting from occurring inside the rotating tail shaft which will lead to a longer and more complicated maintenance.

Sea Chest Grating Cleaning

Sea chest are a very crucial component under the hull to draw sea water for distribution to the engine's cooling system, ballasting and even emergency purposes. After a period of time, marine fouling such as barnacles will grow on the gratings. If left attended, the growth will gradually choke the sea water intake which will result in system failure. A periodic maintenance is paramount to ensure the system is operating smoothly.

Bottom Shell Plates Hull Cleaning

Bottom shell plates were found to be almost fully covered by barnacles. Such marine fouling drastically increase drag and weight of the vessel resulting in exponential use of fuel and massive speed loss. Barnacles cling onto paint detachment areas more firmly therefore performance series cleaning brushes were utilized to effectively remove these marine fouling. Only a proper hull cleaning will ultimately achieve maximum cost efficiency.
